Raju Pandey, the chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Poilce, has resigned from his position.
He handed in his resignation on Friday to Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain.
Confirming the resignation, Chief Administrative Officer Guragain told Setopati that Pandey had submitted his resignation letter.
Pandey cited personal reasons for stepping down and stated that his resignation would take effect from January 18.
Pandey is preparing to contest the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 from Kathmandu.
He had earlier said that he was preparing to step down before Mayor Balen Shah resigns.
Mayor Shah is preparing to contest the election from Jhapa.
